What's saved on your device

To remember your progress, the game saves a few things in your browser's own storage:

• your high score (best territory, rank, country and date), runs played and conquests
• your chosen game speed

This stays on your device and is never sent to us. It isn't a cookie and isn't used to track you. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Visit statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, roughly which country visitors are in, the type of device and the site that linked here. It uses no cookies, doesn't identify you and doesn't follow you around the web. We use it to see whether people are playing and what to improve.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages to you and to block attacks.

The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.

Feedback form

The feedback form is run by Tally. We only receive what you choose to type. Your email address is optional and only used to reply to you. We use feedback to improve the game, keep it for up to 12 months, and will delete yours sooner on request.

If you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and to fix any problem you report. We keep emails only as long as we need to deal with them.

Sharing your result

The share card and text are made on your device and are never uploaded to us. If you share to another app (for example WhatsApp, X or Instagram), that app's own privacy policy applies.

Where data is processed

Cloudflare, Google and Tally may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on the safeguards required by UK data protection law, such as standard contractual clauses.

Children

Sector 196 is made for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what data we hold about you (in practice, only feedback you've sent), and ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

We rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the game for visit statistics and security, and on your choice to send it for feedback.

Changes

If anything changes (for example when optional profiles arrive), we'll update this page before it happens and change the date at the top.
